Barely recovered from her serious injury, Maria Grappa is back at work again on a hot story: Toninho, star striker of the Black-Yellows, is kidnapped, while his girlfriend Margit is attacked and raped. The police suspect a serial rapist who has been wanted for the past ten years, but the red-headed reporter is convinced that the kidnapping is connected to the rape – Margit is the daughter of the man who, as president of the venerable Bierstadt football club, has brought it to financial ruin with his shady speculations.
And Grappa is at least partly right: on the basis of DNA evidence, the police identifies Toninho as the rapist. Immediately an arrest warrant is issued for the supposed kidnapping victim. Sure enough, Toninho turns up again – in neatly-wrapped pieces. Perplexingly, he is wearing red patent leather stilettos – a clue about Toninho’s activities in Bierstadt’s red light district?
