Horst Bieber, PhD, was born in Essen in 1942. He studied history, philosophy and German literature and language and worked as a trainee and as a journalist. Since 1970 Bieber has been working for the German weekly paper "Die Zeit" in Hamburg, until 1997 as a chief sub-editor. Bieber wrote nonfiction books, crime novels, radio plays and television plays.
